Internet Evolution: From Dial Up To Wimax

no comment

It all started with the Internet in the 90’s.  It was little more than a rumor back then, that it was possible to send electronic messages and look up information on your bulky home desktop.  If you really think about it, that’s only 15 years ago, 20 at the most, and look how different the technological world has become.  The inventions and the updates came faster and faster and now it seems as if you’ll become outdated an hour after buying the latest wave of technology.  And the newest wave is WiMax capabilities that take the Internet to a whole new level.

Practically the entire evolution of the Internet is well within memory.  It was cumbersome at first, the concept was new and people didn’t quite know what to do with it.  “You mean I just write a message and it magically appears on someone else’s computer no matter where they are?”  That’s right, and you can do other stuff with it too.  We were willing to patiently wait while our machine dialed up and connected to the worldwide web.  Each page may have taken several minutes to load, but it was a small price to pay for such a remarkable tool.  Our patience began to wane with each new breakthrough in Internet and computer technology.  Waiting no longer seemed worth it, we needed something with more speed!  And all those chords, a person could get so mixed up with the dozens of wires and cables.  Why not make it easier and do away with them altogether?  And thus, wireless internet was born, effectively connecting the user to the vast network of exchange happening online, without any special cables.

This was no doubt a big breakthrough as the new technology transcended our tangible notion of computer technology.  Although we may have no idea about the precise internal functions of our machines, there was presumably some relationship between plugging in an Ethernet cable and getting access to your email.  Now it largely remains a mystery for most of us, not knowing how it works, just worrying that the pages load.

We now find ourselves in a rapidly changing arena of cutting edge of 4G technology.  It is more and more common everyday that someone connects online through mobile wimax.  The limitations continue to decrease, as many of us now have internet access 24 hours a day through a mobile broadband connection, making it possible for the user to access an endless supply of information, entertainment, social networking, etc.  We have come a long way since the dawn of Internet technology, greatly expanding and improving the way in which people use the Internet in their daily lives.  It is undoubtedly the most influential tool of our generation, and who knows where it will take us next.
